Tri-Ryche and Delcrest have permanently combined to become Tri-Del MinPins. Puppies registered after April 27, 2005 will reflect the new combined kennel name. As our mentor, Al DeVono of Delcrest MinPins, retires from breeding Miniature Pinschers, we are combining the kennel names to reflect our most sincere appreciation. Tri-Del proudly realizes that we have become the 3rd incarnation of Delcrest Miniature Pinschers.
Within our webpages you will find over 100 pictures of Miniature Pinschers. The dog in the opening picture is Boo. Boo was our first home-bred champion, she was novice breeder/owner handled to her championship. Boo will show you around the site, she is the dog that follows your mouse pointer across my pages. If you do NOT see Boo beside your mouse pointer, click reload/refresh.
Every kennel has a story & ours is no exception, you may want to see where all the madness began. Come visit the At Home page and see what we are about.

Before you see the dogs, I would like to take the time to inform you about the breed I have promised to protect and to dispel any myths about the world of pure bred dogs. Is this a Miniature Doberman? NO, there is NO SUCH BREED recognized as a Miniature Doberman. The Miniature Pinscher is a much older breed than the Doberman, probably created in the 1500s. The Doberman was created in the late 1800s. Both breeds are probably related to the German Pinscher & they are breeds who originated in Germany, but the MinPin & Doberman are neither directly related nor derived from the other.
MinPins are a docked and cropped breed. The breed conformation standard for excellence has been groomed and maintained for centuries. Tail docked in proportion to size of dog. Cropped ears set high, standing erect from base to tip. If the breed's standard of perfection is not to your taste, please choose another breed whose standard is better suited to you.
Acceptable breed size is 10 inches to 12˝ inches in height at the shoulder blades, between 6 and 11 pounds, on lean properly muscled dogs. UNacceptable disqualifying faults are MinPins are too small or too tall, under 10 inches or over 12˝ inches in height. If you want a smaller dog, look into the breed known as the Prague Ratter (Prazsky Krysarik) ... if you want a larger dog, look into the breed known as the German Pinscher.
Acceptable breed colors are solid clear red, stag red (red with intermingling of black hairs), black & rust (black with sharply defined rust-red markings) and chocolate & rust (liver-chocolate with rust-red markings). UNacceptable disqualifying faults are any color other than listed or thumb mark (patch of black hair surrounded by rust on the front of the foreleg between the foot and the wrist; on chocolates, the patch is chocolate hair) or white on any part of dog which exceeds one-half inch in its longest dimension.
The MinPin is NOT a good choice for pre-teen children. I'll attempt to explain why I rarely will agree to sell a MinPin to a home with young or planned children. The MinPin is a toy sized Terrier. The breed was created to be a ratter (kill rats & other large vermin), anything that moves fast or squeals may well invoke the hunter/prey attack instinct. Also, small dogs will defend themselves more vigorously when threatened or handled roughly. The rough handling of a child may not be received well by ANY toy sized breed. If you have a young family or are planning a family choose a medium to large breed for best compatibility with young children ... Hounds, Sporting & Working breeds are better family dogs (Beagles and Golden Retrievers are famous child companions).
Showing and championships are neither for the snobby elite few nor is it done solely for frivolous bragging rights. Showing dogs is open to and encouraged of ALL breeders and is done for an invaluable purpose. Conformation showing is the professional judging of breeding stock. Does "dog A" exhibit the physical traits and temperament that this breed should? Is "dog A" a superior specimen that has something to offer to the next generation? If "dog A" is indeed worthy of contributing to this breed, he/she becomes a Champion. The majority of the dogs used in any breeding program, most certainly one or both of the parent dogs, should be Champions of record.
Show or pet quality, makes no difference, always insist on seeing a pedigree (3, 4 or 5 generations) with AT LEAST 50% of the ancestors being champions. Responsible breeders rarely breed two NON-champion dogs together and rarely breed with dogs of poor pedigree. There are instances that warrant such breedings, but be sure to ask questions of a poor pedigree or 2 non-champion parent dogs. If the answer sounds remotely peculiar, listen to your instincts and investigate the breeder more thoroughly or move on to another breeder. Do not take "I don't have the time or money to show my dogs" or other cop-out excuses from a breeder about their breeding program. If a breeder does not have the time, money, health or other personal problems to breed correctly, they should not be breeding at all. Such breeders only do damage to the breed, at best they certainly do it no justice.
While this may sound like a condescending attitude to some, I can assure you it is not. The cold hard fact is that breeders who are NOT showing their dogs, are breeding without purpose (other than cranking out puppies). They breed without professional evaluation of their stock or the offspring they produce. If you buy a Miniature Pinscher , you should be certain that you are buying from an legitimate breeder whose dogs have attained proper credentials by those who are formally educated and accredited in judging the Miniature Pinscher breed. If a breeder isn t breeding to the AKC Miniature Pinscher standard (for USA breeders), they aren t breeding Miniature Pinschers... they are breeding nothing better than mongrels with papers.
Yes, that is right, AKC papers in NO WAY indicate quality or guarantee that your puppy is even pure bred. AKC papers simply state that the parents of this dog/puppy were SUPPOSED to be Miniature Pinschers, but if untested and unjudged??? Who knows??? Why would you pay money, often times good money, for a maybe? You can get a MinPin maybe from a shelter or rescue group at little cost and those dogs deserve & indeed need your support.
Should YOU decide you want to breed dogs, don't sell the breed short, don't be in a hurry & certainly don't expect to make money. A wise breeder once told me, if you are making money breeding dogs... you are doing something WRONG! To do it right, find yourself a legitimate, well respected mentor and soak up the knowledge like a sponge. You can do it and do it well, if you give it an honest effort! We ALL start somewhere! Showing, DNA testing and health testing are the ONLY way to prove a dog s and/or breeder's worthiness to contribute to the future of this lovely breed.
Breeding Information
All of our dogs that are of breeding age are in the process of being tested and OFA certified for Congenital Heart (Cardiac), Hips (hip joint conformation) and Patellae (knee caps). Testing is the only way to guarantee breeding stock is UNaffected by (are free from) the characteristics of Cardiac disease, Legg-Calve-Perthes disease and/or Patellar Luxation, the three most prevalent crippling ailments that are a specific problem for the Miniature Pinscher breed.
Our stud dogs are additionally tested and OFA certified for Autoimmune Thyroiditis and Elbow Dysplasia Disease and CERF certified for Heritable Eye Disease. These problems are not as prevalent in the breed, but never the less, our studs are clear.
Do yourself and a dog a favor and never & I mean NEVER purchase a dog from a pet store.
A reputable breeder would NEVER sell a puppy for re-sale in pet stores. The puppies you find there are from dishonorable unethical sources and often are from the horrifying torture chambers better known as puppy mills. By purchasing a puppy (who often have numerous underlying health problems) from a pet store YOU are contributing to the suffering of innocent canine lives by giving a demand for puppies of the disreputable suppliers. When puppy millers can no longer peddle their pathetic wares, then the last dog will have suffered this terrible fate of misery, filth and squalor.
In vast comparison, reputable breeders will ONLY sell to well screened homes (that's right, you will be interviewed by the breeder) which will be the final destination for their beloved puppies. Expect a reputable breeder to have more questions asked of you and your intent for their babies, than you will have of them. If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear from this painless inquiry.
I will not venture to tell you from which breeder(s) you should buy your new family member. I will simply advise you to keep these things in mind .....
..... YOU need to find a better breeder!
1.
IF your breeder cannot provide proof of conforming to the breed standard by way of conformation championships
2.
IF they cannot provide proof of health testing for their breeding
3.
IF they cannot describe for you the diseases of Legg-Calve-Perthes and Luxating Patellae AND guarantee their stock is not affected by them
4.
IF they cannot provide you with DNA proof of parentage and provide you with at least a 3 generation pedigree
NOW on with the pictorial show... Click on the button of the catagory of dogs that you are interested in. The buttons will take you to a page where you will find the dogs' PICTURES and information. Each dog has a [Pedigree] Page. There you will see their Health Certifications, DNA profile, pedigree, MORE PICTURES (of the dogs in their pedigree), Championship certificate and any other information on the dog.

Tri-Del is dedicated to only breeding Miniature Pinschers that are considered to be superior specimens of the breed, preferably those that are recorded by the AKC as Champion of Record. We firmly believe that Hackney is NOT the only worthy trait of the breed. We breed for sound body and temperament as well as movement. Tri-Del does NOT support, condone or endorse breeding for profit or pet quality. Tri-Del encourages responsible breeding: breeding only in the effort to improve the breed as according to the standard of excellence as set forth by the MPCA and accepted by the AKC.
